Gerbéviller is a small town of 1402 inhabitants. This small town has been marked by the world war I. Indeed, in august 1914, 80% of the town was destroyed. So the town is nickname "Gerbéviller the martyr". In Gervéviller, two necropolis are face to face : the first one is a German necroplis (second photo) and the second one is a French necropolis (first photo). I like it, it shows that each soldier is a victim of the war independently of his camp.

Oui, ces cimetières sont très émouvants. Et tous ces soldats qui se retrouvaient dans des combats au corps à corps...alors que leurs villages étaient souvent voisins...L'horreur absolue de toutes ces guerres...J'ai lu l'année dernière un livre sur ce sujet, de Alice Ferney, "Dans la guerre", peut-être le connais-tu.
Les cimetières militaires se succèdent du Lunévillois à la région de Pont-à-Mousson, pour ne parler que des environs de Nancy. Des endroits souvent émouvants à plus d'un titre.
A quand des cimetières communs?
